A 3500 sq/ft colocation centre
had a monthly electricity air conditioning cost of about $98,000. Following observation, analysis and several adjustments to air cooling systems, the monthly electricity bill fell below $30, 000!
Overheating risk was decreased. How? Initially the cooling system operated at 100% with no additional cooling capacity for emergency or growth. After system tuning, the cooling units run at 60%, cooler room air temperatures and higher raised floor air pressure differentials, plus a large reduction in running cost.
